I often find that I have trouble staying focused. Focus is a challenge for anyone, but it can get especially troublesome for creative minds. Your brain desires stimulation constantly, otherwise you find yourself sidetracked. You’ll procrastinate, fail to complete tasks and as time passes you lose all efficiency. In this article, I’d like to introduce you to a number of things that have helped me to maintain focus on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Camera in hand, eye to the viewfinder, there are times when I choose not to press the shutter button. Photography is an experience. Sometimes, the moment is ruined by taking the shot. I don’t often regret this choice because it gives me that zen moment.
Great photographers require more than expertise in the art of photography: They require extensive wisdom and knowledge about their subjects. It’s not enough to simply know how to use a camera or how to light the subject. You would need to also show great respect and caring for that which you photograph. The love and caring will show in your photos.
It’s a statement that seems so simple, but yet so complex at the same time. In the same breath, the person who makes such a claim is stating not only what they do, but who they are. Like many hobbies (or careers, as the case may be), Photography is a lifestyle choice.
