It is a challenging task to curate your portfolio. Each photo created by a photographer reveals tiny pieces of our personalities. It’s like taking a self portrait and cutting it up into pieces: Each photo doesn’t reveal too much about the photographer in-and-of-itself. But if you start to piece each of them together to be viewed collectively, the photographer really exposes himself to be viewed and judged by the general public. So when it comes to collecting your works into a portfolio, you are really choosing what details and flaws you want to reveal to the public. It’s a daunting task.
So a portfolio should always be changing. It should be refreshed, occasionally, to include more current works. But it should also be curated so that the collection continues to tell your story: As your story evolves, so must the portfolio.
