No Words is an on-going project that started in 2012. Every photo I create for this project is monochrome with a 1:1 ratio (height / width). But most importantly, these photos are not titled nor do they have descriptions or telling tags (except a tag to associate each with the No Words project). The purpose of the project is to force me to explore simplicity and to avoid depending on tricks of the trade such as snarky titles, special processing or the like. It’s a project I credit with improving my composition skills.
Note: Many of my own additions to this project in 2014-2016 were in full color, rectangular or both. I have since removed them from the project as I wanted to return to the roots of the project and I feel the monochrome and square aspect ratio were important to the project.
